What made Anthony Wayne an "unlikely general"?

He was not President Washington's first choice to lead the army against the Indians in 1792.

A womanizer, heavy drinker, and spend-thrift who had suffered a physical and mental breakdown fighting in the last year of the American Revolution, he had just been removed from Congress for voter fraud. But Washington took a chance on Wayne and the rest is history!
